Zac Porter: Not A Thug

Talented new comer, Zac Porter, co-stars as a Thug in "A Mother's Love." Even though he is new to the scene he more than makes up for it with hard work and enthusiasm.

Tell us a little about yourself and your background.

My name is Zac. I live in Perth, Western Australia, however, I am born in the United Kingdom. I’m quite new to the acting profession. As a voice over artist, I am working on being able to voice and become the character in different roles. I have done this by voicing the character Thug 3 in our production even though I am absolutely nothing like my character.

Can you describe what influenced you to pursue a career as an actor?

I often felt that watching cartoons as a child was more than being invested into the story. It was also about the emotion in the voice. I would love when I researched an actor’s name and recognized them from another series I would watch. I would be in awe how they could change their voices.

What kind of roles do you think you are best suited for?

As stated prior, I feel as though my skills are an allrounder. I can be an absolute villain but I could also be the hero in the story, as well as all the characters in between. I feel as though I’m quite good at mimicking voices as well.

What kind of roles would you love to play in the future?

I would love to play more complex roles. Think Severus Snape – from the start of the story you absolutely hate Snape. As that’s how were told to feel but after each book a new layer of Snape’s background is unraveled.

Where do you go to practice loud vocal exercises?

Practicing in the car is a saving grace. Even if people do hear you then you won’t be staying next to them for very long. Also, its something fun to do during the car ride.

Favorite inspirational quote?

“I think therefore, I am’

What kind of movies are your favorite?

I couldn’t name you a specific genre as I just like movies that tell you a good story.

What would be your advice be for someone who wants to become an actor?

I would say to pursue your career as soon as you feel the passion for it. If you wait and push it aside then you might be living in a life of regret. Make sure you pursue what you want to do rather than what someone tells you to do.

What are you working on now?

I have been working on a few meditations voice over roles. However, I am currently cast in a musical called ‘The Sorcerer’. Through voice acting I am able to change my voice to allow me to be in more spoken scenes.

Where can people see your other work?

I have my own YouTube channel called ‘VoiceOfZ’. However, my other paid roles are still to be credited and published.
